A Crazy Week in February

A fact not well known about me up until recently is that I was born without two adult teeth. Fortunately, the baby teeth in their place had held up pretty well, until one decided that 16 years of overtime was enough. On February 12, I went in for dental surgery to have the baby tooth extracted and a metal implant put in. I will have a gap in my mouth until April 3, at which point I get the abutment, followed soon after by a crown. At some point in the near future I will get to repeat the whole process for the other baby tooth.

To help me with the surgery (which required a pre-op valium!), my mom arrived the evening of February 11. Not much fun to be had on surgery day, but we packed it in for the rest of her stay. On Friday the 13th, we went to Half Moon Bay: Moss Beach Distillery, walking on the beach, shopping, see downtown, even some wine tasting. The following day, we went to the Sunnyvale Farmers Market, then into the Santa Cruz Mountains to Big Basin State Park. We did the short hike and Mom got to see some redwoods. See picture below - can you find her?! On Sunday, I took her to church, then we visited with Susan and her baby Lucas. That evening we went to dinner at Santana Row. Mom left on Monday. Way too fast of a trip!

As I sit here writing this little post, I am struck by how much I totally stink at keeping up with the blog. It is March and I am just now writing about what occurred in mid-February! Some of my friends are such wonderful bloggers and I envy their ability to consistently express themselves. For me, I think it is almost too much with everything else I have going on. I have decided that, while I won't dismantle the blog, I am not going to keep it on the to-do list anymore. Perhaps in the future I will use this more regularly again. For now, to keep up with me through the internet, please go to Facebook!
